The old one actually portrayed our MC like a deranged lunatic who was stuck in a dungeon for thousands of years with no company but himself, this guy looks like a baby faced noble who's greatest hardship in life was waking up in the morning.

Writer just stopped giving a shit. We haven't seen MC challenged anymore after Fafnir (in dragon form), so we are to assume that he just spent tens of millenia -a time scale where human comprehension completely breaks down- completing his Pokedex and pointlessly fighting while nerfing himself. (Pointless because I am aware that he got additional stats, but he has nothing to need them for.)

Probably the reason for it was that the quirky artstyle itself, to say the least. For a manga that was released recently, it might not be up to the taste for all (new) readers, which is weirldy kinda works for the said mangaka's other works. Probably it doesn't match the source's (LN) genre and tone.

This was just from my own viewpoint tho, and the real reason is probably much more deeper than that since anything can happen in manga production scene.

Well the new artist draws quite good, probably to attract new readers better. The old one is quite niche if I must say.

But yeah, the grittiness is gone. The timeskip also way too abrupt. And the personality does not match somehow. That sure will backfire greatly towards old fans.
