I bought the Japanese tankobon which had the "after story" for each chapter and guess what, Ella actually ended up trying to run away!

Two castle servants entered her chambers because they wanted to change her sheets and saw that she was packing a suitcase. They asked if she has any plans to travel to which she said "I'm thinking of getting out of this castle..." The servants started whispering to her, confirming if she wanted to run away and is supportive of the idea as it is to protect herself. Ella then tells them, it's not for her sake but because there's someone else she needed to protect. Someone with smaller feet than her. Inside of her.

The story ends there but considering how the servants are acting, I think she would've been able to escape successfully.
