This marks the end of volume 1, and the conclusion of Aiko's middle school era.
Next chapter will be the extras which are a long interview between Fumi Fumiko and Asano Inio (yes, the one who wrote Oyasumi Punpun) about this manga and their life backgrounds, which serve as inspiration for their works.
Regarding this chapter, it really hurt to see such a young girl have such nihilistic emotions towards the world, and the worst part is there's no way I can blame her. Aiko is literally all alone. No friends, no parents, not even God to save her, they all let her down. She prayed and hoped so hard that Matsumoto or someone, anyone, would just cleanse the filth around her, but everyone turned out to be cut from the same cloth. A trauma that is still weighing her down 20 years later in the present, like an unkillable curse.
Next volume will about Aiko's high school years.
