"she's blind and deaf, she probably can't even remember me. So do not equating a dog to human"

You heard the lady, if your family members get dementia and can no longer remember you, stop treating them like humans.

I get that the author was in a bad headspace but that was a seriously shit take.
I can only hope that this is just narrative set up for a pseudo antagonist character, and not a warning of the author's plans for the story going forwards.

Would be sad if the story becomes an emotional breakdown in written form.

I was thinking the same but couldn't get past the take.

It won't be the first or last time we see an author lash out due to irl circumstances.

If I see Ran the Husky reappear in human form later on, I will both cheer, and also lose my shit in terror.

Cause it would confirm that the human form of Mikan is tied to her lifespan running out.

https://www.vet.cornell.edu/departm...nter/canine-health-topics/senior-dog-dementia apparently dog dementia can be a thing but idk if it'd be as much of a struggle as an elder with one since even with flexible schedules dogs are more used to a routine (but i can imagine if a dog slowly went blind and deaf it'd be too scared to move too much around their own home even if their sense of smell is stronger to where the owner would assume that they don't recognize much anymore versus maybe also being averse to being petted by a familiar touch)

If I see Ran the Husky reappear in human form later on, I will both cheer, and also lose my shit in terror.

I wonder if mikan's age was said yet

tho human-husky is the focus of Ponta's manga for the beginning lol

Life is a fleeting miracle embrace the times you have with your loved ones.
I also have a slightly different view on death. I think of them as one who watches us walking behind and beside as we experience life. When the time comes offers a hand and a shoulder to help us to our final resting spot. Knowing full well others maintain memories of us in their hearts.

her human form doesnt look that old, could it be she just doesnt age like the others to begin with, or did she get a human's lifespan, otherwise she's gonna die and thats not so wholesome

I think they meant that don't treat their lifespan like a human's... That you don't have much time, and should priotize them before they pass..
I also think this is a bad faith reading of what the author was trying to do :( why in the world would they mean you should treat them poorly if they're poorly?
