The mangaka is making this story too long and it has lost much of its edge. It's not even clear why the heck Sousuke is chasing Rika. He has a daughter to raise and for all intends and purposes his relationship is dead. Closure is fine and dandy, but why would he pursue it? If the issue is the possibility that Rika is pregnant with his child, going to the Police would be more logical than all these events from the latest chapters.

Also, why are peeps applying ntr/hentai logic to the story? There isn't none. Even the most NTR situation right at the beginning solved itself when the teacher lost his influence: the mothers wanted to skin him alive for not being able to fulfil his promise of giving their kids an advantage in admission.

And, I will bet some hard cash that the confrontation most peeps are still reading this for, will be a whole handful of nothing. Rika will say something vague but deep sounding and leave them all behind...
It's a little more complicated. Sousuke himself is very stubborn and naive, so to find closure is most likely his reason. But mostly nails down to how even worse she is every time he finds something about her. As for going to the police, in the end, it'd be useless. Rika is in league with Iwabuchi, and as said by Kanebayashi, he's extremely difficult to legally approach by his position.

There's no sheer NTR, only adultery. And even in Shiratori's case, NTR was acting. However, Sousuke DOES( until near the end of the spa arc) still get aroused by Rika, even if she's with another man. This has subsided since he started really falling for Akiba...but our overall main conjecture lies in the possibility that Rika KNOWS he idolized her, and believes he's still following through with it, so she continues to toy with him. Not aware that he already changed his perception.

It might be. They might clash their ideals as well. As we don't know how Rika's ultimate goal works, nor how she thinks or even her backstory, it may be a surprise, or something more direct( in a past point, we talked about how some of her characteristics reminisce those of psychopathy, so it might be just as direct as that).

In the end, the most important things are how far can Rika go in her plan, and how much longer will it take for Sousuke to realize that, although he preaches punishment to cheaters, he himself is showing clear signs of changes. From betrayal, detaching emotionally little by little, and now checking out.

Oh, if Rika is pregnant with his child, and them being married that is the case legally, will make it possible to go to the police to uphold his parental rights.

I do find the story after Rika left less compelling because, for me, there is really no justification for him to be pursuing her like this without making him as obsessed with her as she seemingly is with him. It moves away from "husband wants to confirm his wife's infidelity" into "obsessive love tragedy" territory. And to be honest, I'm not really into this "eyes wide shut" turn of events.

Anyway, I'm still spending coins on the chapters but at this time is just sunken cost drive, lol.

Thas makes perfect sense. However...sadly...we ARE dealing with a guy who is believing his current wife is bearing another man's child...has a history of dealing with, and be involved in, cheating...and didn't even think about asking for a DNA test. Though, now, we do have to deal with the fact Rika has connections with Iwabuchi, so even something simple could be bureaucratically delayed to stretch the story a little more.

In a normal sense, yes, he doesn't. The main issues are that he is still legally married to her, can't find her to file a divorce, and i don't know enough about the law in japan, but...divorce on the grounds of a baseless adultery( Sousuke lost the SD card, and with it, physical evidence. He now has only testimonies), doesn't seem to be too manageable. Besides, even the a small peek in her past show us forged parents, so maybe he also got caught on trying to understand her, while catching her?

Maybe... The only reason he is still chasing her and has the help of all those people is because PLOT. Same with DNA testing, authors will ignore current and available tech because PLOT. At this moment the need for PLOT drives the actions, and not the other way around.

I think that's bad writing, but one cannot argue with sales.

Speaking of the plot, there are so many holes in it that it is not clear how the author will seal them. Starting with the bar arch, the further we read, the more incomprehensible and more stupid the actions of all the characters become. This applies not only to Soska, but also to Akiba and Rika.

I think there's no need to talk about Soska's stupid actions, everyone understands them anyway. As for Rika, the most stupid thing is that she decided to show a video of her cheating. As for Akiba, these are her actions in the bar where she agreed to go with other men, which distracted Soska from spying on Rika. Akiba could easily refuse, as one girl did at the beginning of the bar arch, but she didn't, why?

As for sales, all this is sold only because everyone wants to see how Soska punishes Rika.

That, isn't, a solid reason.
I've been seeing more and more of these kinds of thoughts lately. In series like Supernatural or Good Omens, as the story works in a "beyond the realm of normal logic" grounds, people tend to apply suspension of disbelief to it's fullest, because of the supernatural logic. On the other hand, series like House M.D. or The Good Doctor exists in a reality so close to ours, that people disregard the same concept, and try to abide to "critical thought". The 4 examples are the same.

While i do agree the're some questionable execution problems and deliverys( to me, specially after Misato's introduction), there really is no need, nor way, to properly address everything as just "plot", in the basis that characters do not act "realistically" or "closer to what we expect from them"( that's projecting, an issue most manga fans have nowadays) because the setting "looks" like that.

It's just as Janakete said, regarding my criticism to chapter 80: the authors really just made, and tried to solidify this, a protagonist who is "pure"( as in naive, straightforward, ignorant and headstrong), and has to deal with concepts far from his understanding, but common to normal people.

Does it mean he's and idiot who draws people because of how he solves their problems? Yes.
Does it mean he's an idiot who still acts without a plan? Yes.
Does it mean he'll go after his wife instead of just throwing everything and proceed legally? Yes.
Does it mean he's just a bad written character? No. Just the execution is problematic.

On the other hand...there's a problem with the same view. That residing in Iwabuchi. You see: even if Sousuke applied to legally go after Rika, who's to say she wouldn't be able to dodge that, or drag it bureaucratically until it tires out? Because people like Iwabuchi do exist, and are well backed and able to defeat an easy prey like Sousuke. If Rika is close to him( as we found out later), who's to say she isn't protected?
Go to the authorities? it's useless against people like that. That's an interesting counterpoint to the expectation of realism in the work.

I disagree. A good story has to have some sort of logical consistency. Imagine Spiderman all of a sudden being able to see infra-red because the author needs a quick way of getting him from point A to point B? It would suck because that's not what the character is about. But since it's a superhero story and some spiders actual see in the dark, would it be fine?

Expecting characters to behave consistently or have a solid reason for when they don't, isn't projection. Is just good story telling.

The story is now way more convoluted than it needs to be. Characters behave because the mangaka wants to set up a given scenario.

The wife has abandoned him and their daughter, there are plenty of witnesses to her strange behavior, so what does he want right now? A gotcha moment? From the beginning he wanted to confirm that his wife was cheating, once he confirmed it he wanted evidence so he could divorce, then most people witness her strange behavior and he has lots of witnesses to Rika's involvement with the AV ring. Then he has evidence that her family situation was a lie. He doesn't need anything else to cut her off his life. And that's the only legal think he could do: present all the evidence and file for divorce on the grounds of abandonment. And that would probably be smarter even for the plot because the author would have an excuse to make Rika and her cronies come out of the woods and play their hand in the open.

Instead we have the "eyes wide shut" party and everyone behaving unlike any of them have shown so far. Are they all willing to have sex with strangers just so Rika can show her face? Is this a setup so Rika shows up and "see?! we're all the same"? Don't know, but I'm less and less hopeful for the ending making any kind of sense.

I think that will be the most egregious example of cheating in the whole story. The readers will be cheated out of a clear resolution because, uh, ART!
Honestly, I don't believe Sousuke will punish Rika severely. The worst that will happen is divorce and termination of parental rights. But even that depends on who Rika is pregnant with.

Why don't I believe Rika will be punished? First, Rika is pregnant; the author won't punish her until she gives birth or miscarries. Second, Sousuke hasn't punished anyone severely in the entire story. Third, is Rika really the main "villain" of the entire narrative?

I agree with your examples, but disagree with your reasoning. Talking about consistency, we have the example of Giorno Giovanna and his stand, the Golden Experience. It has, and been shown to us rarely, an ability to revert cause and effect. It's not bought out much in the story, until the last minute, in which the requiem, it's evolved form, defeats Diavolo by using it against King Crimson, Diavolo's stand. My point is, if there's a trait earlier on, a character coming back to it isn't inconsistency.

In Sousuke's case, his original goal wasn't trying to find proof that Rika was cheating to punish her. It was to find proof that she was cheating so he could punish the man who "stole" her. That part of his nature has been around until now, even when finding out she was the one who advisored Shiratori( him being the only clue of her involvement, with no physical proof she was involved), approached Shingo and proposed Momonga( and managed to disappear with the SD card, another evidence), trapped Misato in blackmail( with the help of Iwabuchi, and Misato having no evidence against Rika) and found out she's still tied to Iwabuchi. That much has been consistent with his charater all along.

What changed was his views. He begins falling for Akiba, as well as distrusting Rika. Took him long enough to break Rika's enchantment over him, as well as start accepting his feelings for Akiba. As of now, though, his story is to trap Iwabuchi and free Misato from him, as well as find out more about Rika, who she is, what she wants and why she did everything. The Whydunit itself. Sure, a normal person would've given up and tried the law earlier, but that's not the case for Sousuke, his 8 years of marriage and finding out his wife is way worse than everything she has done to him.

Inconsistency isn't a character using a power that was shown or hinted lots of chapters ago. It is a character, for example, maintaining the same motivations and if these change, show the events even if not the reason that lead to it. I don't think that happened with Sousuke.

We can agree to disagree although I do "admit" you have far more knowledge of the story than I do. For example, you are absolutely right that at first he wanted to punish the AP right until he realized that, apparently, Rika isn't a victim.

I still think that at this point his and his allies behavior and motivations are poorly explained. It looks more like momentum than rational drive. Also, Rika escaping and avoiding just in the nick of time, cheapens the plot once it's done too many times. For example, for me is one of the weak points of Monster.

The MC's greatest revenge and the greatest resolution would be forgetting about her existence and moving to the Philippines with Akiba. A big happy family with 3-5 kids should do the trick.

Man, this is a "but wait! there's more!" manga. I've been reading it and sometime i get quite lost. Search for Kalimaman's posts and you'll know what is happening.

That will probably not happening. I'm getting the artsy-fartsy-ambiguous ending vibes from this one.

Well, i'll go with the summary so far, if you want...
  • Yamada Sousuke, married to his Wife Yamada Rika, and having a daughter called Yamada Shiho, is having the best time of his life. He's then approached by a coworker, Suguru Terauchi, who shows him secret account, and porn videos of adulterous women. In one of the top, Momonga channel, he recgonizes his wife as the woman, having sex in a setting similar to their daughter's school classroom;
  • Suffering from betrayal, he devises a plan to cath the man, believing he "stole" Rika from him. He pinpoints the target as a member of the Parent Teache Association( PTA). While going for it, he meets, and befriend, Megumi Akiba, a teacher from the school, who's frustrated by her work, and "discharges" the tension by watching people in the school having sex. She tells Sousuke that the majority is PTA, and cheaters;
  • Upon Hearing his story, she decides to help him catch the man, and both set a trap, with the victim of the trap being Matsuo Jin;
  • In a later reunion of the PTA, Jin asks some members to attend a meeting at his house, a fancy condo. Sousuke meets Matsuo Senna, Jin's wife;
  • While seeing the apartment, Sousuke sees another couple cheating, and Senna( who's showing him around) explains that the PTA is a den of cheaters;
  • She then tries to seduce and frame Sousuke to Jin, which records the whole thing and asks Sousuke to pay a huge sum, if he doesn't want to get this story leaked;
  • Fully embracing that he's broken( mentally) and has nothing to lose, Sousuke stops Jin, by showing that he recorded the conversation, and that he can contest it however he wants to. To further aggravates, Senna decides to join Sousuke, and leave the room, breaking Jin with it;
  • Upon defeat, Jin reveals the he's not Momonga's owner, but he met Rika in college and why he did this to Sousuke;
  • Matsuo Jin owes a huge amount of cash to Rika( 10M Yen), which she lended and saind such a sum wasn't a problem for her;
  • We later find out she has more than 80M Yen in a secret bank account;
  • She has sex with Sousuke over whos gonna be filming Shiho during the sports festival;
  • The next target is Kamizaki, who works in a bank;
  • During the sports festival, Sousuke and Akiba find out Kamizaki, as with many other parents, is a victim of Ryouga Shiratori, a teacher at school has sex with wifes, while their husbands film them. All while the 3 wear masks, to hide their faces. This is to give the couples child references, so they can go to better schools;
  • He also uploads these videos in the internet, though properly censored;
  • Sousuke and Akiba infiltrates this bussiness with the help of Matsuo Jin and his wife, Senna;
  • Sousuke and Jin are caught by Kamizaki and his wife( while not reporting this directly to Shiratori), while Senna, who was a bait herself, fails to lure Shiratori;
  • While keeping up appearances, so to not raise suspicions, Akiba is approached by Rika, who wishes to talk to her at a later date;
  • Jin manages to free himself, but while trying to save Senna, he falls to a trap by Shiratori. Upon the critical moment, the bell rings, and Shiratori is forced to free them;
  • With the situation at school coming to an end, Sousuke and Akiba sets a plan to lure Tsutsumi, Shiratori's girlfriend, into helping them;
  • She agrees and records a fake sex video with Sousuke( who himself wears a horse mask similar to Shiratori);
  • Shiratori breaks and goes looking for Tsutsumi, to learn why she did it;
  • Before their talk, Sousuke appears and interrogates him about Rika;
  • Turns out Rika is the one who teached Shiratori about this bussiness, never having sex with him, but making sure he understands how to engage on it properly. His teacher;
  • He also explains that she is well know in advisoring this bussiness;
  • When Sousuke almost gives up, Shiratori explains that the owner of Momonga channel, and probably the guy who had sex with her, is Shingo Mori;
  • In a breather, we see Jin, Kamizaki and even Shiratori fixing their relationships( 2 of them having sex with their loved ones);
  • On the other hand, when meeting with Akiba, Rika reveals she's pregnant, and wants counceling when dealing with Shiho;
  • The phetus is more than 2 months old. And considering Sousuke's and Rika's sexual encounters, while she says they used condoms and she was on the pill, it seems fair to assume it's from her lover. She also does this to keep Akiba away from Sousuke;
  • The next plan part is going to a happening bar( swing, swapping and other deals). Sousuke and Akiba decide to disguise themselves in order to spy a meeting between Shiratori, Shingo and Rika, with Shiratori now on their side;
  • While surviving an approach by a horny couple, Sousuke manages to meet Rika while in the bathroom( she doesn't know it's him);
  • While spying, we see a side of her not shown until now, openly talking about sex, lust and engagement content( even going as far as saying some women enjoy rape);
  • She enters a room with Shingo and Shiratori is left outside. Akiba is caught by some guys and Sousuke miss his chance to bust Rika trying to save her;
  • With the plan failing, they decide to recruit the help of Shingo's wife, Mitsuri;
  • While approaching her, she threatens to kill Sousuke, and both have an emotional break, because their spouses were cheating with each other. Mitsuri asks Sousuke how can he prove that it wasn't Rika who approached Shingo to start the affair;
  • The both settles down and starts a video call with Akiba, Shiratori and Tsutsumi, to orchestrate a plan to catch both cheaters in the family spa trip of the PTA;
  • During the trip, the team( and a little help from Shiho) manages to open a breach for sousuke to steal Shingo's pouch, with and SD card inside;
  • While checking the SD card contents, Sousuke sees raw videos of sex between Shingo and Rika;
  • Breaking down even more and telling this to his friends, Sosusuke see another couple cheating;
  • When going to their respective rooms, Shiho asks to play with Tsubasa( Shingo's kid), leaving Sousuke and Rika to take a bath together in the ofuro;
  • While there, Rika latches into Sousuke, and asks to have sex, because this would be the last time, before the baby was born. And if he felt doubts, he could ask for a DNA test, because the situation itself was strange.
  • While this happens, Sousuke remininsces about their highschool day;
  • Sousuke begins to have doubts about this situation and believes that he can just settle for a calm life with her and the 2 kids;
  • When coming out of the bath, Momonga channel receives another video, one of sex, where Rika screams in pleasure, saying her AP's d*ck was bigger, and how she wanted/longed to be impregnated by another man;
  • When searching for the SD card, Sousuke discovers it was stolen;
  • Night falls, and Sousuke almost falls to his death in an accident, but is saved by Akiba;
  • They stage a plan to lure Shingo and recover the SD card;
  • Shingo tries filming Akiba and Sousuke, in order to compromise them and "have Rika for himself";
  • His plan fails, and he is caught by Shiratori and Sousuke;
  • During his flashback, we see that he has attention problems, and desires to be seen. He married Mitsuri in order to become an ikemen( handsome guy) and attract more views. However, his views start to fall;
  • Rika is the one who approaches him in order to start Momonga and get more views for him. He becomes addicted to the numbers bought by Momonga, thanks to her;
  • Sousuke manages to recover the SD card in a...really unique way;
  • With the pieces set and Mitsuri keeping Shingo in a leash, Sousuke departs to face Rika, but not before checking the SD card again;
  • The videos are all gone, save for an old one of Shingo doing a different girl, while saying made him do it for training;
  • When entering the room, Shiho delivers a note of Rika, saying she will be sort some things and return later( with a lipstick kiss);
  • The team searches the entire spa, but does not find her;
  • 3 weeks pass and Rika has not returned home;
  • During a conversation, Shiho asks Sousuke to keep searching for her mother, while calling her grandmother( Sousuke's mother) to help in the House. Shiho also thanks Sousuke for their time together, saying she loves him the most;
  • Sousuke decides to get back to his hometown in search of Rika's parent's house;
  • While travelling, he meets his childhood friend Misato, and she helps him getting to the address;
  • Rika's parent's house has been sold 10 years ago, and now there lies an empty piece of land;
  • She reveals that there'll be a class meet, where Rika could be probably going too;
  • Sousuke retcons that, from her 18 to 22 years, there's a blank part about Rika's life that he doesnt know about;
  • During a series of twists, he ends up staying in Misato and her sister's, Satsuki's trailer;
  • Satsuki tells Sousuke that the house was referenced by the people as the "whore house". Neither sister knows why;
  • During his stay, at later night, Sousuke is approached by Satsuki, whos asks for sex, instead of money, as compensation to keep him;
  • It backfires, as Misato caughts both of them;
  • On the next day, Misato and Sousuke go to search for clues regarding the "whore house". On their way, Misato discloses a piece of info that wasn't made public, about Sousuke and Rika's quarrel, but dismisses it altogether;
  • During their search, the majority of people in the settlement do not want to talk, and even asks to leave them alone, to forget about Miyase( Rika's family name). Sousuke starts grasping the reality that something really bad happenned, since he's feeling their feelings of discomfort regarding the subject;
  • When going back to their motorhome, Misato drugs him, strips him, and starts filmming with him, saying she's "the whore's friend";
  • Sousuke manages to stop her from doing the deed and she explains her story;
  • During college, Misato had financial problems from her parents/sister, so she went to Rika for help. Rika broke Misato into investment fraud, and Misato started earning a lot of money. During this time, she was approached by Iwabuchi, a man who was representing a victim, and wanted compensation, otherwise he would go to the police. Misato sent a nude and that was it...until it turned out it was a lie, and Iwabuchi used the nude to blackmail Misato into prostitution works;
  • Also after this, Misato found out Rika's secret account. Turns out, during her college years, Rika was engaged to Iwabuchi. Misato quickly understood she was set up since the beggining, went to Rika for some explanations and Rika confirmed it. While asking about their relationship, Rika confirmed that she loved Iwabuchi and Iwabuchi loved her. He fullfils her;
  • Rika explains that her goal is to feel Ultimate love, because a life without fun is just boring;
  • In the present, Sousuke understands even less of her, as Blackmailing Misato and cheating on him with Shingo seems to lead Rika into a path contrary of love, hate;
  • Misato also points out she doesn't know if Rika is still close to Iwabuchi, since she married Sousuke. Also, Iwabuchi still asked Misato for some jobs, but this one came specifically from Rika, "to target Sousuke and create a video of adultery";
  • They receive a call from Rika;
  • While stalling for some time, while receiving threats, Misato manages to "fool" Rika into thinking there was a video, but couldn't send it due to file size. Rika threats her with scattering Misato's nudes and ending her socially;
  • Also in the call, Misato asks why'd Rika ask for that, if she was married to Sousuke, wouldn't it be simpler to just divorce? Rika's response was that she needed this video of Sousuke to achieve her goal of true Love;
  • Near the end of the call, Misato, a village broadcast starts playing. The calls ends with an ultimatum from Rika, "tonight". Sousuke perceives that the broadcast could also be heard from Rika's side of the all, meaning she was somewhere in the town. The chapter ends with Satsuki not believing how her sister was compromised, and saying she will muder Rika;
  • Misato and Sousuke begin their search for Rika in the town and are surprised/"ambushed" by Iwabuchi himself. While trying to dissolve the friends agreement and subdue Misato, Iwabuchi Reveals that he's still engaged( fiancé) to Rika, and the child he's bearing is his;
  • Sousuke does not get intimidated, reveals he's been recording their talk and searchs for Rika in Iwabuchi's car. He doesn't find her. Iwabuchi delivers to him an invitation to an event called "Orgia party", and hopes Sousuke appears, if he wants to find Rika there. In the highway, it's revealed that Rika was indeed in the car, was in fact Iwabuchi's main breadwinner( though they talk in colleague terms instead of blackmailer/victim like with Misato)and shows a lascivous face when thinking about Sousuke's reaction if he found her there, while Iwabuchi bites his lips;
  • The following day, Misato and Sousuke go to a lawyer called Fumika Kanebayashi, with the recording. She says it's no viable, since Iwabuchi does not talk directly about people in it, so it couldn't be used as evidence. Furthermore, she explains Iwabuchi is a high name in the night city, and that he has a good lawyer able to always free him;
  • Misato and Sousuke decide to enter the night city( Misato going to a hostess bar, and Sousuke to a, as he later found out, opub). While drinking, Misato asks for info about Iwabuchi, and is challenged to a drinking contest by a host called Akito, with Iwabuchi's secret in the prize. She loses and is rescued by the female cast;
  • On the verge of winning, Akito loses due to Akiba switching his drinks with something stronger. Tied and forced to obey, Akito reveals what he knows;

And the followup, because of the character limit:
  • He's working like that to find more about his sister, who found an entrance to Iwabuchi's server, and evidence against him. She disappeares shortly, with the explanation being it was a "job for Iwabuchi", but Akito managed to track her into the Orgia party. The team decides to help Akito find his sister, with the intent of saving her and finding evidencce against Iwabuchi;
  • Sometime later, the team reunites and plan on how to make the other members enter the venue through a window. Misato becomes jealous of how close Sousuke and Akiba are, to the point of using first names and nicknames for each other;
  • The day of the party, Sousuke and Misato recalls that Akito's sister is called Shuri, and she has a snake tatoo in her belly. She's also a blond gyaru type. The guide asks them to wear masks in order to enter( to which Sousuke remininsces over Shiratori's incident, and how difficult it was to identify others). In a big Room, Sousuke notices there're about 15 men to 30 women;
  • Iwabuchi appears and welcomes everyone. He asks if everyone is comfortable and explains that the girls are all from secret accounts, and this is a gathering between them and contributors. He leaves, while signaling the start of the orgy;
  • Sousuke remembers the fact that Rika had so much money, and points Iwabuchi and secret accounts as the cause. However, if the girls are likely her "peers", why is she treated differently/wasn't there?
  • Misato is approached by a man, but manages to fool him into leading her to an area with a window for her plan. Sousuke is approached by a girl, but eventually strikes a plan to use his ED as a means to make the women strip( by oferring money if they could get him hard) and find if Shuri is among them. She isn't one of the women who strip to him;
  • Sousuke then is approached by the top 3 secret account women, who decides to take on his challenge;
  • We are here.

So what I'm getting from this is pretty much true that she actually cheats and seems till this point her motivations for doing all this is unclear?

Would you say thats correct to say?

Also do you think the mc is still willing to turn a blind eye to all that's happened and still wants to get back with his wife or its unclear what he currently wants from Rika of its truly revenge or reconciliation?
