As someone who has worked with Japanese, let me explain their situation.
To the Japanese, job is everything. This includes the banks, and how they view you. Which means that if you lose your job, the banks consider you as problematic, and they will IMMEDIATELY cancel the housing loan they gave you, and evict you. They don't give any buffer period for you to get a new job. So no job equals no house.
Now try to put yourself in an average mangaka's shoe. Miss a deadline = lower rating = potential cancellation = no job = no house.
Do the Japanese themselves think it's justified? Of course not, and they fully know it. But it's a mentality shift that won't happen unless someone wants to be the martyr.

Of course it's easy for someone not in their shoe to say it. That's what I meant in my last paragraph. They know it's wrong, but it's not an individual change, it's a nationwide culture change

Unable to cook up plotlines about how to stall the progress for 50 odd more chapters. Jokes aside I think they are just afraid of people losing the interest after confession arc. Just trying to get that bag. I don't mind that but for gods sake don't pull most cliche nonsense for the upcoming chapters. This manga went downhill real fast after 4th volume. Author cooked soo well until then but after that just left it on the burner and now everything is burnt.

Dude. Japan is an amazing country. Their kids are well-educated, their technology is top-tier, and their economy is very good compared to most countries in the world. Especially considering how they built up from wreckage after WWII they're insanely impressive. Now they've got an overworking problem, partly because they used to have to work like crazy to build their country up again. They've got a suicide problem, and a low birthrate problem. All cultures have problems. Doesn't change the fact that they've achieved some amazing things. Oh yeah, and my sister who lived there for a few months said their cities are really nice and clean compared to the USA.

The Japanese, as is common in Asian cultures, are collectivists. You value individualism and standing up for yourself. Their culture values harmony and getting along instead, team success rather than individual success. Causing a fuss and standing up for "your rights" would be frowned upon. As others have said, one person against the whole system and culture wouldn't get you anywhere. Your life also depends on getting along with others well enough to participate in society.

A country that, if not facing already, is on the verge of a population crisis, where people literally grind themselves until they die of working or just straight up off themselves... Doesn't sound very harmonic to me. Yeah, japan has amazing education and technologies but how smart are you if you can't fix aspects of your culture that are driving your country towards extinction?
