the only real reason she was introduced in the first place and she's like that is to be used as a means to progress umimi's feelings, basically the author had no idea how to progress and introduced a throwaway character for plot progression, at least that's what it seems like to me as of now lmao

If she's a character deliberately being introduced to mess things up in a story like this, you can bet she WILL mess things up and not immediately give up in like the second chapter she appears in. I can respect Yako's chaotic hustle. Umimi be like: "You're going after him even after he already likes someone else? Wait, that's against the rules!"

Before Yako came along Umimi was the closest thing to a character I could like in this manga, but her schtick of always lying to herself really grew thin with me. I don't even believe Umimi going on the attack coming after Riku in the boys' toilet will lead to something. Something happening in this manga? No way.

I'll say it again, Yako is Riku's ticket to exiting this quagmire his friends made for him. If only he himself wasn't super crazy over maintaining his childhood status quo with Shizuku and Takt. She may be rehashing Umimi's initial role of throwing a wrench into the equation, but boy if she isn't a breath of fresh air into this series. I'm not even mad this is technically a regular harem now with 3 girls chasing after Riku.

He did this to himself, and I would say the same for any one who failed to notice the feelings of others. Awareness is important. mc was living in his own bubble thinking no one liked Shizuka but him, and failed to pursue her in any way shape or form. Same with Umimi he pushed her towards Takt again failing to notice the reason she bothered to hang with him in the first place.
Umimi wasn't interested in Takt at all, but Again Riku kept going on and on about him. Making Takt seem more popular, and a great guy when he wasn't. Also Umimi didn't plan to date Takt at first till Takt asked her out later dumping her a month later. Of course Riku being Riku living in his own bubble failed to even notice everything going on with his friends, and everything else going on around him. Failure to notice the world around is no excuse.

Hell no. No matter how oblivious someone is, it doesn’t justify getting manipulated and heart broken so much.
