god, from "C'mon you two, keep up!" to "It's better for me... to be alone right now." in just one arc... the page turn to that blank page of just Akane looking back is so good (no earring rn either! God!!!)

love how consuming her drive for the art is, hurts (in a very fun way) seeing her isolate herself so much in pursuit of something she still doesn't quite fully grasp the shape of. Fitting too that her first challenge after trying to get serious is to be met with a crowd that refuses to take her seriously, very much looking forward to seeing how she handles that

nice to see Karashi again too, Akane Isolation Moment aside, the implication that he's been putting up with Hikaru's bar hopping while she tries to get in touch with Akane again is sweet lol, hope they both never stop chasing after her......

the light is gone from her eyes :qq: even pushing close rivals away to further herself

i can see next weeks chapter now, the whole crowd cooling one by one as they get engrossed in her rakugo :oooo:

I wonder if Akane feels so insulted by this, that she's going to be really petty like she usually is and give them the saddest most tragic story and dare them to laugh in a comedy show, only for her to end on a punchline.

as the person above me pointed out, seems like the expectation is she gets past the artificial positivity with "my goal is to make them not laugh" (or something along those lines, so immersed they forget their cue, etc.) but how does she counteract the facileness/shallowness? we're told she gets to choose the story on the spot, so maybe something meta-ish? recursive? only a few stories so far have been about rakugo itself, needing the performer to imitate a fictional audience, that could be an interesting inversion - and also a demonstration of skill. or maybe she just pulls out something continuous without reaction-gaps so they never have a chance to laugh.

I have no idea but either way I feel like she'll use heavily draw on the historical aspect to all of this as a power move.

man, she looks so cold now :worry:

okay, the problem is that the audience will laugh no matter what. but is audience laughter the only goal of the show? what if she makes them cry instead?
