Not sure about a bridge, but since warriors use ki internally and mages externally, the warriors may be emitting ki (especially the ones lacking control as they are students) into the metal and then are unable to remove it from it, so maybe they require a mage to manipulate and clean the metal from their energy. If I had to make my best narrative guess about the solution, it would be Lacey finding a type of "bridge" to the gap between ki and magic.
Ki transforms the body, so the sweat that comes out could also be......evolved.Now.... There's such a meme as the "Sweaty Gambeson", but even the ...ripest... of those couldn't Smell up a town...
I don't know whether or not to be intrigued or horrified....![]()
Try looking up kendo manga instead (the highschool kind, not the shinsengumi kind).I wonder why it gets smelly like that. Looking it up, sweat is salty and rusts metal, but ever since we've used metal, we've known how to care for it; Romans waxed and oiled their armour to protect it. Definitely a strange premise that doesn't seem to be based on our world, so I guess it's related to ki or magic.
