I mean Shizuku doesn’t want Shizuru’s weirdness all over her - they both had their married life. Like if you’re thinking why don’t they visit for holidays, Shizuru was probably occupied with her child. When she first met Luca, she hadn’t had her daughter yet so that makes the kids several years old.

I don’t think it’s medieval at all. The mom won lottery tickets for a Deluxe Hotel, the grandmother was forced to cook cause the mom keeps burning food, and they have photographs as seen in the mail Shizuru got of Rui. Yes they seem to travel by map and foot but I wonder if that’s because they’re in “Grandma’s house in the woods” essentially. As the Red Ridinghood folktale goes.
