I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that the human Sara speaks of, is (likely) an ancestor of Sora's.
Sora seems overwhelmed with guilt that involves his bloodline, of sorts--perhaps he comes from a lineage of exorcists & mermaid hunters, but there was one "rogue" individual from his family line that fought back against the work of the rest of them, seeking to help save the mermaids and create a lasting peace between humans and yokai at large.

It would seem that individual succeeded, but perhaps they were persecuted and even killed by their own family, with any record of their existence and efforts erased. So Sora, even with this 'savior of & friend to mermaids' ancestor, only knows of the evil that was done by those from whom he derives his name.
But Sara remembers that human--and while she's not connecting the dots, Sora does remind her of them. And that is why she feels so comfortable around Sora, as she states in this chapter.

That said - I imagine Sara is becoming more and more aware of her being attracted in some way to Sora. It'll only get more overt as time goes on, but I'm curious if it'll be entirely her recognizing it for the most part, or of Sora will develop feelings of his own toward his mermaid landlady. Should be interesting to see, given his self-hating side and the fact it's seemingly directly tied to the plight of the mermaids.

Looking forward to finding out. Thanks for the TL.
