This could have been good but the last page ruins everything..

If she already likes him the way he is then it totally undermines everything she said before about self-maximizing, becoming more masculine, more attractive etc etc. like what even is the point of the manga then?

Fun fact, studies shows that the average male penis has been increasing over the past few decades.
Humans are becoming bigger because of their diets and advances in medicine, so yeah everything gets proportionally bigger, but I've seen studies that show testosterone levels aren't keeping pace. basically men are getting taller and fatter, in the West anyway. it also depends a lot on racial makeup.

Only if you took what she said at face value. For all we know, she just created pretext to get closer to the MC.

Not really, it is about how interesting the process is gonna be, her motive of wanting to get closer to him was pretty clear even before then, and surely those things are like her best excuses to achieve that.

Or she’s the kind of girl that likes projects. There’s another manga out right now where that’s the premise - some fitness freak girl starts making an older man with a dad bod start working out because she can tell he has a perfect body under all his flab, she wants to get him fit for the sole purpose of then fucking him. She ignores that he’s married.

So the premise here could be - “I want to make this cutesy guy [that I already like] more masculine and popular because that will make him even more valuable and attractive to me.”

Of course people like this don’t really exist in reality - most people are selfish and don’t want to work for what they want out of a partner, but that’s why this is a fictional rom-com.

Pretty good explanation of evolution; too bad they logical fallacy that into applying to modern human relationships on a microlevel. (In the first place, evolution applies to communities, not individuals...) Like, if "being ugly" was as detrimental as she's making it out to be, (such that those who are are "doomed to a life where they can never get a girlfriend") then it would have been selected against already. The previous generation of "ugly people" wouldn't have had children, and so there wouldn't be any ugly people this generation, (Unless she's implying that Homo sapiens is undergoing a paradigm shift right now?) and the same applies for that previous generation. The generation before that would have weeded out its own "ugly" genes, which would have actually been weeded out the generation before, which would have... &c.

The fact is that next to no one actually exists who is so naturally "ugly" that they cannot find a partner. (This is of course not counting people who have become disfigured in accidents or otherwise become less visually appealing later in life.) Sure, finding one is easier for some people than it is for others. But the people who think that they can never find someone are just... wrong, at least when it comes to inherent biological reasons. If you really find it impossible to find a girlfriend or a boyfriend, that almost certainly is due to something other than your genes. (Your personality? Your way of life? Your interpersonal skills? Your lack of self-care?) And even if there is something biological, appearance is absolutely one of the least likely for that to be, as it's extremely easy to select against. It's next to impossible for someone to have a child before "the fact that they are indescribably ugly" is revealed to their partner. It's not like you're a carrier of some hereditary disease or anything.

And that's something she could have explained instead of the whole "yeah, it's impossible, y'gotta fake it" and I don't think it would have really negatively effected the manga very much. (Oh, but the fake dating plot would have felt contrived! Woe!) And, honestly, what they did go for feels uncomfortably similar to what real, self-identifying incels believe, that the only way to be popular is to "fake being more masculine" and that the world is against them and it's not their fault at all.

Like, I've been single my whole life, but I'm not going to pretend that's biology's fault! My parents had children, my grandparents had children, my great grandparents had children, my great great grandparents had children, &c.; I'm clearly of a lineage that's pretty good at finding mates. I'm just shit at talking to people and don't really care enough to work on it. So if you care, then own up to your own faults and work on yourself! Don't blame the genes that have persisted across hundreds of generations.

Which is basically the same message she goes for at the end but with a different nuance, I guess. But MAN it has got to be faking or else we can't do a fake dating plot, huh???

He's youthful not feminine, dumb af to see any of that as a con. His ex is def a bitch and those teachers are losers who can't see by the time they're in their 50's he'll still be looking like he's in his 30s while they're balding and have ugly ass pores. Also if he's a feminine man what is she? A fking slut.

You have to consider that humans have confounding factors like money/power/religion that don't exist in the animal world and some times it isn't even the woman that chooses her partner (like for example arranged marriages); there may be still selection for certain traits like height, simmetry etc but if the man can compensate with other characteristics the woman can say "eh, good enough" (I'm trying my best to not sound too incel-y but it's hard).

Yeah, I'm not denying that. It's just more evidence that human relationships cannot be accurately compared to the process of evolution. And in the first place, most of the sorts of non-biological factors you describe are still kinda hereditary, you know?

If your parents only got together because one or both of them had money, well then you're probably coming from a more wealthy family that's going to give you a higher chance of being wealthy and well educated yourself. If your parents got together from an arranged marriage, then you're probably coming from a culture and / or socio-economic status that's more likely to get you into a similar arrangement.

So the fact that your parents were able to get together still stands to suggest that you very likely have plenty of weapons in your arsenal to find a partner yourself besides "faking" being a more attractive or masculine or whatever. And besides, even if your appearance might bring your "score" down, if money or culture or religion is enough to get you a partner, then I think that you can hardly describe that as "impossible," even without those factors. "Harder," maybe, but not impossible. (Especially taking differing preferences into account.)

You're right, my reply was more about the part when you said the "ugly gene" would have been erased.
But yeah, most likely you can still find a mate even if you're ugly, tho I think the guys in this chapter (or incels in general) aren't satisfied with whatever but want the prettiest girls... Oh and I think peacock girl just blabbed about that just to get close to the teacher and send away the guys :meguusmug:
