Seeing how the current saintess, her mother, keeps telling Anna that it's okay, maybe Anna's power really is the saintess's power. But since it's not truly any sacred power, it's just one type of special attribute magic, it could be that Anna simply doesn't know how to use it. It might have a dual use, both dark and light. The saintess would publicly use only the light half, but for whatever reason Anna is only feeling the dark half of it. But Sylvie, and some others in the know, would naturally see the whole picture. Of course it's also possible it actually isn't the saintess's power but the total opposite of it, yet Sylvie, or anyone else inspecting Anna, can't see the difference before she uses the power in practice. Maybe it vaguely feels the same before its manifested properly.
