Bato is down. Time to advertise for the creator as much as possible.
Unfortunately I don't speak enough japanese, let alone have access, to know how to get them. *Not sure, if it's where the novel is uploaded.

edit 3: 1) i can't count. 2) i might have been very tired when i tried to organize them. doesn't help win 11 redos the sequence when it wants. >:-(

edit 4: also i'm trying to find volume 7's manga cover. Otherwise I take the next volume's first colored artwork or the cover from the light novel. : -p

this chapter looks different from usual, and not entirely in the good direction.
i noticed two issues in particular, which you can see particularly clear on page 2:
1. you places loose text half over pictures and just switched text color from black to white to make it visible. this makes it hard to read and i advice to switch to adding a border to the text. so black text surrounded by white. that way will make it uniform and easy to read.
alternatively give it a opaque background to highlight the text in visually noisy areas.
2. you split text from different text-blocks and text bubbles mid sentence and gave the parts different formatting, like text size and thickness. this just looks weird. please adjust the text to fit a full sentence in one bubble/block and only use such visually different formatting when it makes sense from a story perspective or you really have to make a bubble look fuller.
as a general rule, uniformity is key to a better reading experience and using only occasional highlights are the spice to make it even better.

at least in my experience as an avid reader. but feel free to experiment what looks and feels best for you.

Hello, thank you for your feedback. I can't change everything, but I think most(?) should be possible. first: I'm always aiming to do the bare minimum, which is the readability of each letter/word alone. not how it looks altogether. (i know, it's dumb.)

Not all fonts work with MS Paint. In the past I drew over the bold letters (faster version) or wrote each letter on top of each other (prettier, but slower version). Considering the folks here are kinder and more patient, I'll probably go back to at least the faster version.
With the old goal in mind, there's no need for an opaque background anymore. (unless the original also had it.)

although the "cheeks" wasn't meant to be smacked right on the picture. i guess i simply forgot to differate it. sometimes i see the world wrong. sorry, this is an actual mistake on my side. 🙇 i always try to minimize mistakes, but they smuggle their way in. I'll take more time to look at them from now on 👍 (page 11 for an example).

all chapters look different from each other, because i have a formatting problem. like, always. in MS Paint (i can't use other editing software, nor do I want to do nothing in my own projects) the sizes of the original bubbles clash often with MS Paint's formatting. I have to resize them to make them more readable & then make it fit what the original had to their bubble ratio. this naturally leads to funky looks.
not only is MS Paint the problem, but the fact that for 3 days the formatting stays the same but on the 4rth it's different. Even if I use the same font size, it might be different at the end of creation. I have no clue how to avoid it. (;-; It's bad enough, the fact that Win11's codes are apparently written by AI partly. tho, I had that problem before my new laptop too. So either AI was used shortly before Win11 forced changes were done or Linux should find a faster way to get MS Paint (7) in their systems.

(also another stupid thought of mine: if it looks too professional, there might be really a clash between the creator and me. i naturally want to avoid it. so some amateur mistakes are fine. but not all of course.)

so all in all: I can fix the text on picture & bordering my text for future chapters. what I can't fix is Windows being gross.

edit: sometimes i want the readers appreciate the art, so i might try to have it transparent. sorry. (;′⌒`)

so you use MS paint.
no wonder you are struggling with quality, that program has no layering function or opaque setting at all, as far as i know.
you may want to invest in some kind of Photoshop program, even old free versions of cheap or common programs are a clear step above ms paint in both user friendliness and capability. it may make your work easier while also being faster, just try some out.

in ms paint 11 layering has been added.

I tried photoshop, other adobe softwares, krita, firealpaca, other versions of MS Paint and other free (bc i'm poor) softwares, other online softwares out and none of the manuals stuck to me. ms paint 7 was used from ch 10 - 38. and since chapter 39 it was ms paint 11. due to a mental disability, i'm not suited for advanced programs (aka I can't).

I can imagine why the quality drop. i tried to pump out every week (chapter 37 and up) an update for bato. not mattering if i was able to or not. I can also imagine why MS Paint 11 is shit. because no surprise: MS is shit. I use MS Paint for other works too, so I can't drop it (hence I went to buy another MS Shit despite glowing red flags). Despite its limited usage, its versatility is the reason i can use it for absolutely everything. (plus i'm too spooked about brain transpalations.)
no wonder you are struggling with quality,
no, i'm struggling because I use 2 screens and ANY SOFTWARE tries to regulate itself after the screen they want to. Browsers, websites, games, softwares - all struggle. Like i said: I suck, not the softwares. I don't know if I can even improve, I simply continue what i can do. It's a hobby of mine, trying and opting things. Plus I'm afraid if I did, the court would call.

I appreciate your critic. I'm really sorry, that the last chapters sucked. Like I told you: From now on, I'll take more time to polish future chapters.

update: i just now return to all the settings i had before ms 11. which includes the switched screens. the manga now looks on low graphics (including everything else), just like i had it with chapters 10 - 36. chapters 38 - 49 had the graphics look good. let's see if the resolution will look better with chapter 50 or not.

i did not know paint got layering now, thanks for telling me!
maybe now i can use it practically while my machine with the better stuff is not working.

as for the better programs being complicated, yeah, i completely agree...
even i struggle with using one of those properly, but there are many easy to understand videos that can explain functions and tutorialize techniques one step at a time. my father and brother got into a photoshop version for a while years ago and managed to make some impressive pictures by following the instruction videos posted online.
though those kinds of videos tend to not stick in your mind for long and are not very suited for deep learning, as they only tell you what to do not why it works.
so i can understand if you still don't want to use them.

as for the polishing you wrote at the end of your comment, just do however much feels good enough for you.
we don't mind if we need to wait a few days longer between chapters. but don't let me tell you what to do.
you said you do this as a hobby. a hobby is something you do because you enjoy it. do however much polishing you need to make it feel ready to post by your own criteria.
if that means you need more time than before then so be it.
besides, many translators/scanlators need way over a week to post a chapter so you are good to go either way.

It’s nice to see franz changed other people’s perspective of him who supposed to be a future villain, but I love the story more when franz is with his family.
