Pretty sure the MC is still a kid. He just has memories of a past life. So, it's like a kid with access to the video of someone else's life. He hasn't experienced the other life, just has access to the memories of it.

Not sure if it's this series, but I've read somewhere before that the MC is not as competent as your usual isekai protagonist. He loved playing games and was an easy-going klutz in his past life.

My translator and I've thought about the theory that he is neurodivergent. Well, I still think he has some level of intellectual disability.
he needs more time to grow. until he is 18 and over, you can chuck his rise in itelligence & maturity right outta the window until then.
