If I know my shounen romcoms, then it looks like this manga's gonna go the Matsuri route. Not that I have a problem with that and I like her more than I do Wakana for the most part, so that's a plus. I can see it now: Going forward, Matsuri's gonna be cockblocking the MC left and right and eventually, someone's going to fall for the other, which will effectively turn this triangle into a square.
Besides, if the author keeps with the theme of having the MC remain as a villain (who's trying to become the protag), then it makes sense that he doesn't end up with Wakana since she'd be the heroine to Kanata's protagonist. Design-wise, nothing's wrong with Wakana, but her character itself is just so stereotypical, that find her to be uninteresting and bland. Her being an otaku is the only thing that currently makes her a little interesting and I hope I get more reasons to like her going forward.
I also like that the MC gets disillusioned by Wakana's actions/mannerisms every now and then. It gives it a more realistic feel as one's ideal image of their crush in their imagination is usually shattered after getting to know them better. If her image in his mind is completely shattered and he still likes her after all that, then it'd be considered good character development as we can consider his love true. (I'm thinking that he'll find more to like about Matsuri after getting to know both girls tho, but that's assuming that he really does go the Matsuri route.)
