I don't think the MC is particularly unrelatable. What you're saying is he isn't a blank slate, he has his own personality. He may come from money, but he suffers the same "I wanna get a gf" energy that everyone else does, and a lot of people in the audience could probably relate to his feelings of inferiority.
Unlikeable? That's a matter of opinion, but I do think he leans into cringe territory at times.
