I know details must be lacking but it sounds like we got a super evil prince here. I mean the 'otome villainess is engaged to the prince but blah blah blah then she has a horrific end to her life BAD ENDING' is a normal thing but that's usually due to the engagement being cancelled, in this case they actually got married???

It's common, actually. It's like the idea of business marriage, marrying just to keep up appearances and good relations between families. Princes often have several concubines, and some of them are sent to other aristocrats as a message of "I appreciate your efforts for the kingdom."

But there is little information to know if that was really the case.

I don't think concubines are married though. Especially since the usual assumption is monogamy, it's insane a prince would send off his own wife to be a sex toy.
