I know you're trying to use they/them but that's not how you do it. It's popularly bungled this way, true, but that's exactly why correction to correct English (as opposed to hashed English) needs to be made.

In all such cases, you use plural agreement as though you were speaking of two individuals, while context indicates that there's only one.

Accordingly, it's "themselves."
