Friendzoned. I'm ok with this for now. I really hate when authors worship at the altar of status quo is god. Because it's lazy, drags the story out, and avoids conflict (and conflict is the interesting part of each work). I don't think we are anywhere near that point.

I like how the Duke commits some casual Lèse-Majesté and King Mustache can't do anything about it. Yeah, the Royal Family is reaping the prizes of folly.

With how utterly weak the royal family presents themselves to be? The duke is practically backing them up and he has a military at disposal. It would be like Cao Cao with Emperor Xian of Han or in us Vietnamese's history, Trịnh Lords who officially had the rank of Viceroy to Restored Lê dynasty. Deposing kings and royal princes was not hard for them. Hell, before Cao Cao, Dong Zhuo deposed and killed Emperor Shao.
