There is almost certainly already arrangements in place to swap both the next head and fiances considering Gerald used his mother's connections to get a hold of a matching set of broaches. I'm more surprised that Sandra didn't pick up on that implication that the current household heads were long aware of Olva not doing shit to stay on the good side of other noble houses and Gerald is picking up the slack in his place.
