@mktonyt it looks like she turned black. Idk any trans people but I don't think they can change their race like that. Ik ik "it's a tan" but with the threads people probably just thought she was black and got confused when in her(his?) backstory he/she appears white

y'all need stay and get educated. 1. having trans characters doesn't make this manga any less of a masterpiece and 2. y'all haven ever heard of gyarus? Japanese women who self tan and break through the stereotype that light skin=pretty.

having well represented trans characters actually makes the manga better if anything
For most of where he appeared, he was drawn 100% like a girl. I guess people who care about "representation" think deceiving readers is good writing. A genuine "trans representation" would be more like how it is in real life, which is 99.9% of them don't actually pass. Instead, we have this fetish fantasy depiction, an unrealistic "haha gotcha!" with a stereotypical backstory, and you think that's great writing.

That’s a thing with “rough/rebellious girls” in japan. Just a counter to the cultural norm to want to be as pale as possible. look up “ganguro girl” for an extreme example. It’s WILD.

You don’t see the ones that pass because they pass, genius.
If you can’t see something, you don’t know it’s there. Duh.

Not everyone with cancer is bald and sickly looking, so you wouldn’t know.
Most people adjust to a prosthetic leg and have a totally natural gait.

If someone passes, you don’t know they’re trans.

Not everyone walks around with a flag. 80% of the time I pass.
I don’t have to put effort into my voice after training. At rest it’s as high and reedy as half the other Jewish women I’ve met. Sick? Sometimes to even make my voice audible I have to, like, dislocate my trachea (it shifts oddly and clicks. I don’t know what’s going on, but it’s not comfortable) and it get’s closer to how it was when I was younger, so if someone is ringing up my groceries and isn’t looking at me they get it wrong, and then look embarrassed when they look up at me from the machines.

Those are the times people get it wrong most often.
More than half the time they correct themselves when I 🤨 at “him” or “sir” because everyone around them also does.

Doctors ask when I got my last period when I go to urgent care.

When I moved the new pharmacists was really confused why I would be taking estrogen. Took me aside to the consultation window.
”I’m just making sure we got this right. You take estrodiol?“
”Yes.”
”Is this a new prescription?“
”No, I‘ve been taking it for 3 and a half years.”
”Oh, well, this seems like a rather high dose.”
”Well, that is what I’ve been on for years, now. So…” I am glaring at him at this point.
I see the click of realisation on his face why someone as young as me would be on estrodial (I was 36, but have a connective tissue disorder that made me look oddly young. I am now old enough for it to start making me look older than I am as I fall apart. I also had arthritis at 21. Yaaay genetics)
He looks absolutely mortified and embarrassed.
”Well, here you go. Have a nice day.” And he walks away, red as a beet.

So yeah. If someone passes, they’re not gonna “look trans” to you or anyone else. Basic frick-fracking logic.

Also, not everyone puts pride flags all over their bags and clothes and cars (I don’t. I don’t need strangers to know I married a woman or what my childhood was like. My life is no one’s biz—nass. I put a star of David and a Fokofpolisiekar sticker on my van and that’s it. The Fokofpolisiekar one is kinda hipsterish. “I know this South African rock band. I am soooo quirky!” I know it’s cringe
My wife has a zillion random stickers on her car. Bunch of pride stuff, some political things, I think one random ports thing even though she doesn’t follow sports that much… Her choice. Makes it hard to see anything when you drive it. (I hate that car for so many reasons, not the least that it is a money pit of repairs and she would not sell it despite it sucking gas, being too small to haul anything, having no traction (we get so much snow up here…
“but I like it.” SO?! I liked the guitar I had but I wasn’t going to put hundreds of dollars into fixing the neck of a 400 dollar guitar! I gave it to my friend’s guitar shop for parts. You cannot get a replacement for a part that was just GLUED ON so she can get home from a trip. She’s gonna try to sell it to a neighbour who has one in better conditio. Friggin danish Saturn… YOU CAN’T EVEN REPLACE THE RADIO! NO AUX CONNECTOR? The winshield wiper fluid just kind of piss )

Girl in manga: Is a punk girl. Acts like a punk girl. Looks like a punk girl. Everyone in the manga treats her like a girl.
Dork: Decides to call her “he” because of a few pages that explain why she’s really good at karate (black belt), is desperate to see her mother again, and is rebellious.

Tanning her skin coupled with the dreads it's clear she's trying to be black, not gyaru/ganguro. The character design exists for the author to push his racist ideology.

In regards to her being trans, she's a very poor representation. Yapping about being able to 'tell' if someone is trans, cause in the real world people can obviously tell, it's only in fiction where it is not so easily noticable. You think she's well written not because that's what you think, but solely cause of the fact you are also trans so you feel the need to be biased towards all trans characters.

Making agni be the killer of hatter was the worst decision they could've made. The most obvious and expected culprit rather than having it be someone you wouldn't expect and with an actual reason to kill other than just to be at the top
