Wait, so the sect leader and the first disciple is actually a couple now? I thought it was just a recurring joke between the disciples and the sect leader... I would have liked to see the romance develop, but I guess it's not that kind of story.

This exactly! I was confused if they were a couple too, then it was confirmed after the night joke but in the same chapter we see her shy away after a peck on the cheek... Even more confused now.

Imo, unless it's just poor wording choices by the translator, she kinda admitted to liking him in chapter 143. At this point in the story, it just seems like teasing/pushing boundaries, not actually bedding.
