In this world, mages seems to only be able to do projectiles and the occasional vine snare. MC has a condition were he cannot conjure mana outside of his body, so he does the most logical thing as a genius mage with inhumane reserves of mana: spend 6 years trying to launch a fireball.
It takes him becoming the reincarnation of some dragon dude and inheriting his ancient knowledge and secret techniques to think that he can maybe
walk and
move to the target with that giant fireball that is apparently stuck to his fingers. It really is the superior way to use magic, as demonstrated in the
target accuracy test; because you can apparently simply go punch the target instead of firing at a set distance. Imagine that someone at an archery competition just stuck all arrows in the target by hand and everyone reacting like he is a genius.
Add to this: a blue status window that only he can see giving him massive stats boost for simple quests, a time slow, minimap and appraisal as his first skills and a small annoying animal mascott to expo dump.
This is perfectly generic and not worth your time.

A Returner's Magic Should Be Special,
The Beginning After the End and
The Infinite Mage are all way more interesting in their magic systems, world building and character development.
