If that wasn't the right way of going about things then what would have been? I don't think any amount of talking to Tork would have convinced him to stop discriminating between nobles & commoners. Kinda weak how that attitude doesn't get called out. Ideally, any form of conflict can be ended non-violently, but that's easy to preach when you don't currently find yourself under attack.
