Its fun how they get modified but they still need to wear glasses...

They merely survived some low level modifications done at some research center in the boonies. Their overall situation sounds pretty similar to where M-21 and M-24 were at the start of Noblesse. Barely survived torturous experiments, left with side effects that require a lot of medication just to stay alive. Not being able to ditch his glasses is kind of the least of that dude's problems.
