Why is everyone standing on the right side of the escalator? Is this a social convention elsewhere in the world? I've never seen it happen where I live.
@WhoCares they leave space on one side of the escalator for those in a rush. Left is for walking and right is for standing (Some places have it the other way)
@tfw2n Ah, neat. I imagine it's much more prevalent in urban areas and places with subways; there isn't really a need to develop that convention at, say, the local mall.
