Yeah, actually I never understood why old people say that you should avoid cold drinks and ice cream when you're suffering from a cold (which usually involves fever as one of the symptoms).

As long you're avoiding alcohol, it's all good. Although a lot of old people in my city believe that drinking a mix of tar brandy with honey, lemon and a little bit of salt helps alleviate those symptoms.
