It’s not that they’re horrible/depressing (some are) but a lot of his endings are open-ended, vague, and just not very satisfying
Tho I’d argue that in most of his works, everything right before the very last chapter is top-tier, so pushing through that last chapter is worth it just to see what he was trying to cook up

Exceedingly late reply lmao, but I think the overall theme here was one of being willing to take the risk of bettering themselves and their surroundings, and the idea that little deeds can genuinely add up. Not the worst thing in the world to believe.
