Both arrangements are possible. Having the first and second violins next to each other makes it easier for the musicians to pass cues amongst each other. Having the violin sections opposite to each other helps prevent the voices of the violins from blending together, highlights counterpoint and works well for pieces where there is some kind of antiphonal effect. This arrangement was actually more standard before the introduction of recording equipment, and a number of pieces by Brahms, Elgar and Haydn are best performed with this seating (in my humble opinion). If this was a conscious choice by the mangaka, I actually appreciate it. The use of tubular bells is a bit odd. They date to around the mid 19th century, given the technology shown, I'd place the manga's time period before that point in time (no steam technology etc.), although the historical schematic is all sorts of screwed up already. Especially the concept of a high noble family renowned for producing professional musicians. Which is absurd, because prior to around the period of the French revolution musicians were treated as servants and as a lower class profession (the sentiment persisted until significantly after this date anyhow). Indeed, most musicians made their fare in the service of the nobility. (The rest went to the church and a smaller number of professional musicians lived as traveling performers.)

Soooo jealous of people with perfect or decent memory 😭

I'm just like the boy where I'm able to play songs from memory, but just something about the sheet music missing freaks me out, I need it!! Even tho I don't look at it, it's just reassuring
