I think the author put incest in here because Bin He felt that he shouldn’t love his best friend. That it was sinful as and him becoming a vampire was his punishment.

Now the readers know why Bin He thinks that his love is sinful and wrong. He fell in love with his brother and knew that it was going against societal norms. His brother didn’t love him the same way and that reinforce Bin He thinking that his love is very wrong. His brother gave up his future to care for Bin He. Bin He felt that it was unfair to let his brother know of his feeling for him because his brother gave up so much for him.
