They both clearly still care for eachother, but I don’t think it’s in a romantic way anymore so if they stayed married it’d probably only hurt them more and I’m pretty sure that he doesn’t think the marriage is currently working out for themBruhhhh, I actually wanted them to finda resolution that probs isn't divorce
I think if Kaede was with someone just as career oriented, a mutual-benefit and platonic marriage would work I think (would also love to see a series like that, just platonic besties who happen to be married). It would be nice to see if they could continue as non-romantic life partners. It's unlikely, I know, but I think more media should explore how love is beyond "romantic", like platonic and familial love. But as it's been emphasized they have different futures in mind.

But from the start Makoto wanted love, affection and a family so non-romantic life partnership would never work for him
True, it's a missed opportunity for a series, but sadly it's a very different situation here.I think if Kaede was with someone just as career oriented, a mutual-benefit and platonic marriage would work I think (would also love to see a series like that, just platonic besties who happen to be married).

If you want that series, check out "I want to be a wall"! It follows an asexual woman and gay man. It's 3 volumes in all.
same. but even after prolonging it, what the author wants is still the same.Bruhhhh, I actually wanted them to finda resolution that probs isn't divorce
Impossible lol. After all, the main pairing is Niina x Michi, not Niina x Kaede. So Kaede had to leave in order to give room to Michi.Bruhhhh, I actually wanted them to finda resolution that probs isn't divorce
This so much and even more. If only Niina was a 50's style stay-at-home husband, I guess some people could find that marriage somewhat viable. But no, Niina is himself a salaryman with long hours, and he still puts all that effort to essentially be a butler to Kaede the corporate slave. And that's without even describing the sheer attitude Niina gets: "-I did the laundry. -Okay. -Do you want coffee? -Okay." What on hell made Niina bear with this ungrateful brat for so long?im sorry, niina divorce angst chapters just. do not hit me emotionally at all. like, how is the real antagonist of makoto and kaede's relationship the unjust expectations placed on working women in japan when their relationship is almost a gender inverted parody of a sterotypical 50's marriage. Kaede feeling that she wouldve had to sacrifice career growth for children just. does not hit like it wouldve had she not had a spouse perfectly willing to stay at home in exchange for her occasional involvement in their children's lives. Kaede as a character has a lot of good notes, but she manages to miss them all for me because of how precisely tailored her situation was to her benefit. she treated every instance where Makoto articulated his emotional needs to her as if he were pulling teeth until he all but asked her to stop trying. she couldnt "have it all" when it was basically handed to her on a silver platter. she lost her husband to a cough drop. the bar was in hell and she managed to dive under it every time. i cant mourn their relationship because im not sure they were ever friends
The precise reason why this marriage is falling apart is because they DIDN'T change. Girl liked her job more than anything. Guy wanted a kid and a real family. They both knew that about each other, and yet, neither was willing to give up on their selfish desires and change for the other.I had a feeling they would end up divorcing despite all the work they did to keep the marriage going.
People change. Sometimes the reason for ending a relationship is as simple as that. It sucks but it is what it is 😕
