This is really cute, but I'm a little worried that it seems like Sakuragawa doesn't have much room to develop. I hope it gets revealed later on that some of Sakuragawa's perfect personality is a facade, or she comes to realize that she wants more out of their relationship than just to make Kurisu happy, or maybe we get to see that her selflessness is hurting her, or something. Romance where only the mc has an actual arc, and the love interest just sits there as a perfect ideal have never really sat right with me.

Thank you for the TL!

@emmadrew has the correct read. We're getting a spicy role reversal yuri. Kanna was the confident and popular one in school, now Kanna is the underappreciated and insecure one. And this creates tension in their relationship, where even when they're getting down, Kanna wonders "Why though? I'm not good enough!"

None of the focus is on Sakuragawa, yet. I expect at some point we get the flashback where Sakuragawa went from "buttoned up school girl" to "confident designer and office worker." OR that she's faking it, and Kanna is idolizing another regular person who just wants validation.

There's a strong relationship founded on mutual respect and support on the other side of the tension.

I get the impression from this chapter that Yayoi's entire outward facade is based on imitating the way she remembers Kanna behaving in high school, and I fully expect that if things go badly enough off-script, it will collapse. Only time will tell if the story actually takes that route though.

hoo, this dynamic is Juicy lmao

I love the "do I want to Be Her or Be With Her" angle on Kanna's end but I'm just as fascinated by Sakuragawa's almost-idolization of Kanna (can't fully blame her either, I'd catch feelings for someone fighting that hard for my art too lol), presenting herself as someone to be Used especially has me interested in seeing how that will shake out in future chapters, we each only have so much to give after all......

thanks for the chapter! Been chomping at the bit for more of this, has me hooked already lol

I love that this doesn’t have any of the usual toxic jealousy that this situation in manga (especially yuri manga) would usually generate. And while, yes, Sakuragawa’s idolisation is odd, and kind of extreme, and probably unhealthy, she still retains her agency and doesn’t just sublimate her desires or risk/sabotage her own success just to make Kanna feel better. It’s girls helping girls get both ahead in their careers and some head in their beds! I just hope that, as @emmadrew mentioned, Sakuragawa also gets some growth by the time Kanna recognises her own feelings and they happily begin a partnership in life and business together.

Also worth mentioning that, even though Kanna doesn’t actually see it that way, she also has her own skills and specialities that Sakuragawa lacks but also recognises. I think she’s far more capable than she realises and she just needs some help in an industry and society that doesn’t always recognise the talents and efforts of workers, especially women.
