The (ex) husband eventually seems to start a thing with a new girl in the epilogue chapter, though she apparently has a habit of shacking up with guys 'down on their luck' before getting dumped (according to her brother, who she lives with as neighbors to the ex-husband) though we readers know that the husband is a nice guy and seems to want to give her a chance. So, basically he's got a good ending.
