Always hearing about mangakas getting too sick to work, starts sounding like excuses at this point.
I mean it's crazy that you'd allow yourself to get i'll to the point where it would interrupt your work.
Or is this the excuse you toss out when you're failing to meet deadlines and stuff?

So... The blonde knows his uncle. Looks like there was a good reason for him to not go down there. He knew what was down there. Maybe its related to why he is sick.

Also...glad its back. Hope poochi gets better.

Not any better than a scanlator that begs money to support his """dying""" mother for almost a decade. She may or may not be sick, but taking japanese work ethics in consideration, she might as well be.

except that they really are, cuz japan is a hellhole for anyone who work because your boss and company will most likely drain your essence until you die. Wanna call in and take a day off cuz u r sick? No, come here and work you lazy f*ck, or we'll demote and cut your already tiny wage.

Uh dude if anything Japanese authors and workers understate things and usually claim they just "have a cold".

The mangaka for Prisma Illya said that he "had a cold" to explain why he was so slow updating it and it was only recently that people found out that he actually had a serious heart/lung disease that required surgery, after the surgery was already over.

So yeah.

This is the tension I expect from interactions between beings as old and powerful as they are, none of that fluffy "let's get along for Yuu-kuns sake!" nonsense like in Dragon Maid, no, this is an Old God, a cosmic fucking horror and a Demon from Hell, the gravity of their relationship must be given the proper weight/respect.

Look up the monthly schedule of mangaka. They spend most of their time working, or talking to their editor. A disgusting one I saw left like TWO DAYS WITH FIVE HOURS OF FREE TIME EACH out of the whole month. They live a tight life of deadline after deadline, and it’s no wonder there’s some manga that are practically wish fullfilment aimed at those kinds of people living those lifestyles. Mangaka would flaunt about how they slept 4 hours a night and were perfectly successful, and next thing you know, those guys are sickly or dropping dead at 50... it’s sad.

If you read between the lines and ignore the main incestuous plot, Eromanga-Sensei was an example of it, where an MC would literally write trash story after trash story with desperado, knowing that if there was ever a time he wasn’t working, he logically wasn’t getting paid. It’s why some authors write multiple stories simultaneously, hoping something sticks. I’m sure someone here has had the thought, “Why is this guy starting a new series when he’s still writing X, and Y is on hiatus?”

I dunno if the scanlator is bulshiting or not but my grandmother was bedridden for the last 12 years of her life and my mother has always been severely sickly. You're probably young so enjoy your loved ones while you still can
You dont want to be regreting what you didnt do when have you're having to feed the ones you loved the most through a nasogastric tube

Did you guys know that the Japanese have a word for "death from overworking"?
This isn't just about manga. Their work ethic borders insanity.

It is said that the reason why most of late Bleach lacks backgrounds is because Kubo shot his wrists from drawing too much.

Mhm. As much as I hate it, I do my best not to complain when an author goes on hiatus. They deserve the vacation time, as precious little as they get compared to their workload.

It happened to Okayado, the author of Monmusu Nichijou. He took a hiatus and forced himself to continue, at the cost of taking longer to release chapters of the same length, I think. I remember reading google translated tweets about his legs going to shit from bad posture, or getting weird spots or rash, warranting a visit to the hospital. Correct me if I’m wrong tho, I might be remembering someone else. It’s hard to tell with how often this happens.

Glad Pochi is doing a bit better considering her twitter. For those who don't know, she also works as the artist of that isekai manga with the hero's mom, and she also works on her hentai doujins of Ane Naru Mono, as well as the serialized Ane Naru Mono (which both are canon to each other for the most part, but also not) so it's understandable as to why her chapters come out every few months, coupled with her surprisingly publicized (especially for a Japanese author) mental health strain and medical issues. Her schedule isn't as crazy as some of the weekly mangaka that you see online, or the large 30-50 page monthly chapter guys, but with all the required downtime due to health concerns it's necessary.

Interesting dichotomy between "You belong to me" and "I belong to you". For me, I'd like a dog.
