it was a slow acting poison, Jayna’s mom doesn’t drop dead right away but a few days later. They don’t suspect Angela and her mom bc Jayna falls really ill due to the shock and Marquis is too worried about her health. Also, the Marquis doesn’t suspect the family of the guy (Angela’s dad) who saved his life on the battlefield

I do feel a bit bad for Angela's situation though, but shitty way to act and deserved ending (though I'm not a fan of executions as much as either they die by their own failure or just banished or imprisoned)
