Thought about making this thread because there was no thread to share the news of new anime adaptations or season announcements.

Studio Trigger is releasing a new season of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, they're releasing a new season after 15 years!

We also got a new teaser of Chainsaw man: Reze!

Takopi's Original Sin is getting an Anime adaptation in 2025!

18 years old, 15 years later is 33 years old now.

Edit:
18 is the line. Can't go lower for that kind of genre. Maybe 15 is the very minimum. Doubling these would make you wonder about your life choices.

Slightly related but it's so weird seeing people call for anime original filler to be added to JJK since the overall oppion of the anime community seemed to be "filler bad" for so long

Personally I never minded filler that much. More time and moments with characters I enjoy watching, you can always skip it, Then again for people watching long ass shows weekly, its probably pretty annoying

Honestly yeah, I agree with the majority's opinion for this one because in the manga there are NO breather arcs after the Yuko Ozawa episode. We jump into Shibuya Incident, then straight into Culling Games then Military invasion to Shinjuku showdown and then it ends, it's all action without any break. JJK really lacks proper interaction between character so I'd love to see some filler interaction between Choso and Yuji or the new upcoming characters (Higuruma, Takaba, Hana) who would be introduced in season 3, at least it would give them some characterization besides being good at fighting.

Absolutely agree. The characters end up feeling underdeveloped and utilized to me. I would love more down time with little action but I think some lower stake adventures would be pretty great at showing how the characters have changed rather than chucking them into the next big event

Should I be watching Lazarus this season? It looks kind of... meh. Plus it's on Adult Swim in the US, which is basically two strikes right off the bat.

Just in case : watch the japanese trailer for Lazarus, instead of the Adult Swim's one, it's vastly different. I will watch Lazarus, but it's thanks to the jap trailer.

The rest of the anime season looks a bit better than the previous season.

Saw the trailers, it doesn’t seem half bad. The story does look a bit cliché, but considering the director is Shinichirō Watanabe (the mind behind Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, and Space Dandy), I’d bet the synopsis is some kind of red herring. Plus, Chad Stahelski (director of John Wick) is handling the action sequences, so I have high expectations for that. Not to mention, MAPPA is animating it. Maybe try the three-episode rule and give it a shot?

Second ep of Lazarus was... still not impressive. There is literally nothing that makes me like the main cast. The English dialog is crap, and the MMC's English voice actor is also crap. The entire feel comes off like a bad knock-off of Cowboy Bebop. I'll give it one more episode to do something that makes me think watching the rest of the season will be worth the time, but I'm not expecting much.

Didn't get to episode 3 of Lazarus until Friday night, so went ahead and watched ep 4 as well. The voice acting is finally loosening up a bit, but the dialog still feels stilted. More hamfisted writing, more two dimensional characters. What backstory has appeared seems like an afterthought. Also a couple instances where it really feels like the American money has said 'we need you to check these two or three boxes this episode so everyone can see how culturally relevant we are'. I will be dropping this for now. Maybe when the season is done I'll work through the balance in one sitting; maybe I'll wait until if/when the subs become available without having to hunt for them.

It's a real shame that Cartoon Network/Adult Swim feel the need to meddle so heavy-handedly in the series they commission - if they'd let the Japanese staff work and just provide a few boundaries to keep away from cross-cultural problem areas (nudity, suggestions of underage sex, homophobic/transphobic depictions, etc.), they could get a much better product. It's amusing to me to see them trying so hard to make this approach work, and completely failing due to their inability to get out of their own way, given the history of Adult Swim management being so vehemently anti-anime in the past. Karma's a bitch. :lul:

I kinda fell asleep watching this anime
Now I'm just theory crafting here, I wonder if it's because in the 4 episodes each script was written by 4 different people.

I'm surprisingly having more fun watching one particular trashy isekai and sprinting girls anime

Could be a factor, but even that doesn't seem to cause problems in a lot of series. I think a big part of it stems from the American money basically saying 'we've gotten amazing staff, and now instead of letting them work we're going to micromanage everything'.

Yeah, when I'm enjoying S2 of '300 Years of Slime Killing' more than Shinichiro Watanabe's latest series, something's come off the rails.
