I wonder about introducing a new girl so quickly when the other two have barely done anything. We have hints of this really interesting backstory for Washio so hopefully we see more of that sooner rather than later. The "beaten down self-deprecating loser old guy thing" is really wearing thin. He needs to at least act like a responsible teacher, if nothing else.

Idk why the mc keeps trying to insinuate that they are close but, it’s great that he keeps getting immediately shut down from that train of thought.

Mentality of some people that the more two people fight, the closer they are to each other because they know each other that well, including knowing where to jab when they argue. So with that logic, people who think of it that way conclude that even two seemingly bitter enemies actually like each other a lot. Which is completely effed, and at best, almost never true. I was on the receiving end of that kind of crap from the bystanders at one time, and they were absolutely clueless when I got upset at them, until things really exploded.
