I'll admit putting into that context really spins this into a potentially worse issue, but as far as we know, the snake only bargained for one of the girl's feelings for the teacher (contextually on the romantic side). Frankly, though, he's not driving the point home that he's not only not interested in having that relationship with his students, but it's also just plain wrong to have, and whatever he tries (aside from, I don't know, objectively rejecting their feelings at their whole?), they're not going to give up on their pursuit for him, and when talking things out won't work, sometimes a more drastic measure is necessary to achieve a certain goal.

Is manipulating someone's feelings to not like you anymore morally wrong? It's debatable, but if it's to prevent a student-teacher scandal from happening, I'd count this as a necessary evil.

Idk man, he didn't even object to getting princess-carried through that book world.
