The Washio faction girls, the snake girl, and Frederick—the annoying guy with a crush on Claudia—enter Julius-sensei's private room. Inside, they discover the typewriter used to write the accusatory letter, along with what appear to be incriminating documents against Julius-sensei. Just as they're about to leave, Julius-sensei catches them, steps inside, and locks the door. As Frederick confronts him, Claudia approaches Julius-sensei and hands over the documents they found—she's under his control.

Have been following the series on the surface but no way the author can justify even claudia doing Julius's bidding unless the payoff is something like he does something harmful to her , which the MC sees ,triggers his trauma and cuts him up or something along those lines of vindication. Liked the art but this is heading straight to the guillotine

This is why hypnosis/mind control is an extremely difficult plot to do.
It's an absurdly powerful ability, especially if you don't establish limits or conditions, and you also need to make the conclusions after dealing with it satisfactory.

Also, I feel it's too late to turn the sensei's behavior around now that the author has pushed him down so far. (I mean you could, but it's gonna be one hell of a whiplash)

As others said, I believe Washio is playing martyr and wants to disappear so his presence won't cause problems to others anymore. And since he doesn't want the monster girls coming after him he's trying to make them hate him.
I'm not a fan of this development and, as others mentioned (again), I think the only way to save this series is to give us readers a huge payoff for this arc. Problem is, I'm not convinced author will be able to do that.

At this point it's not Washio pretending to not care, you could say he literally hates the girls and wants them tormented for ruining his life, considering he lets them be used and brainwashed, while just inflicting mental damage on them, since the story wants to portay him as this so mega strong hidden magician from another world, it's impossible for him not to know they're being brainwashed (except dragon girls, she's literally just being a bitch) so honestly no clue what this all is trying to show

this one and the next could have easily been the same, like infiltrating finding the incriminating shit and then the brainwashing happening, also the hint to linking the teacher was using dots after a sentence?? really author thought it was big brain hahaha, at least he used the snake for a better reason
