This simply feels off. There's so much out of character stuff in the last couple chapters, and i don't think the author can justify it.

I think it's going the route of "I'm taking the fall for them". If he can be hated by them, they won't fight for him. If he can take the fall, they won't be blamed.

Problem is, he doesn't know there's other powers at play that are actually manipulating them.

I could be absolutely wrong, but it's the only thing that seems in character for Washio

Stories do require some setup which this has failed to do, before hitting what feels like a mid-point low on the hero's journey. The setup has been slow while the drama has been fast which creates this idiosyncratic feeling. Motivations for characters need to be setup and almost no one except the monster girls has been.

nah, slice of life monster girl teacher romance doesn't need conflict, this drama isn't interesting

Stories do require some setup which this has failed to do, before hitting what feels like a mid-point low on the hero's journey. The setup has been slow while the drama has been fast which creates this idiosyncratic feeling. Motivations for characters need to be setup and almost no one except the monster girls has been.

I mean, we're seeing hints of his prior life. His fear of confrontation, but also willingness to go to bat for his comrades. We know he had a moment of passion with regards to the proto-monster-girls, and have had hints as to how it's caused his current predicament.

The current storyline is definitely going a bit slowly, but it's not as though there haven't been any hints as to the direction it's going. He's definitely self-effacing, and cares deeply for the girls. Willing to sacrifice a great deal. What's happening now can definitely be inferred as another sacrifice for their sake. The author has just been taking their sweet time in getting to the damn point.

The only way possible for this to work later... is if the kingdom itself (the crown, the king, the princess, the head nobles, etc etc) were the ones behind the secret monster (girls) project in the past. They were breeding tamed monsters to be used as weapons. And MC broke the lab, destroyed everything, freed the monsters, got the project cancelled and buried so deep and forgotten.

And now that the girls come back for him, someone alive from the project wanted revenge on him so they dig up the past and frame MC as the unethical one instead. MC knows he can't just say the truth that the crown was behind the project so he's just up and leaving instead.

Julius talks in chapter 32 about a taming potion for monster (girls). So it's also very likely he manipulated her with this.

Either way, I was so excited about introducing the new dragon girl and now we have this stupid drama arc with some unpleasant sexual implications.

My best bet for this arc is the author will magically wrapped the drama. Ain't no way at this level of mindfuckery can be fixed easily.

You have this all-powerful MC but act pathetic and drowned in depression, then you have this out of nowhere, depressed looking villain yet be the one who's all-powerful, able to stir up things into personal level and get rid our MC with ease (and he got the some of the girls too). Truly tell me how they gonna pull this shit out?

I don't know about the banging part, some people made this suggestion in comments. I also think or more like hope it's not true. I would absolutely despise it, if it were true. Especially in this otherwise pretty wholesome story...
I absolutely agree. It's one of those moments where I think the one chapter at week is making this even worse. If one could this in a bulk, it maybe wouldn't be so bad. I just read the whole thing last week and had the feeling I should have stopped at chapter 23 when the building the faction arc finished for now and wait till it's finished or something...

I still hope for something on the line like "hey the dragon girl (or maybe all monster girls) are controlled by this Julius. Sensei you must do something." And then he will actually use his true strength to fight this guy to help them. Cause that would be his only motivation, since he thinks he just a burden and isn't needed by the girls at the moment. Man, I just hope this will get resolved soon

Doesn't help that they also introduced this new girl, have done no set up with her and have been hinting at a sexual relationship between her and the villain.
Which, if since she seems to be doing this for Washio's sake, comes off very odd. I imagine it'll be kind of a bait and switch, where dragon girl and villain wouldn't have done any deeds, because readers will be pissed.
Which I agree with, since this series doesn't really need or be in the right genre to suddenly have "NTR" or potential love interests have relations outside of the protagonist.
And instead, she just kind of hugs him for warmth since he's taken Washio's place in her mind through the potion he's been slipping everyone.
Wonder how they're going to get out of this though. Considering ch 33 spoilers, Author's kind of written himself into a corner.

Yeah, Washio is just trying to take all the blame to protect the girls, that much is obvious.
What he doesn't understand is that by sacrificing himself and refusing to fight for his own rights, all he's doing is causing unnecessary pain and putting the girls in risk by letting a society that only sees them as special monsters get their hands on them!
