Still so much better than the "mandatory twist" that so many oneshots have these days, IMO.

Like, I was really expecting the other girl to have also time jumped to the past to stop them from running away, because that also ended in tragedy in some contrived way. Glad that wasn't the case.

I don't read too much Yuri but I do remember 2 or 3 stories like that

I'd like to imagine if there was a continuation, that it'd be about their struggles and good times being together (with no crazy twists). A slice of life, if you will

I think a more interesting story would have been if past Mizuki rejected her (a more realistic outcome) and she returned to the present only to be saved from drowning by present Mizuki.
