Why the heck is viz media allowed to post non-manga links?
The spy x family ch80 from viz media links to a page that links to mangashuesha.
Like wtf. Its just over crowding the reading lists.

Still, why is it being posted here in MD? Its not a manga chapter.
Because they're the publisher. That's really the beginning and the end of it. We're lucky they don't take legal action for all the stuff they may own that's already on the site, letting them upload their catalogue seems like a decent compromise with that in mind.

To make something clear this is not viz doing this and is just a continuation of one of MD's core principles of increasing the visibility of freely available* official releases.

*Unfortunately region locking/licensing issues prevent some chapters from being accessable in some regions but that's nothing a VPN cannot over come.

Tbh, I would argue that allowing regionlocked or moneylocked materials of the official publishers to be put here is more of a detriment, rather than a boon to that mission.
As seen with the recent Kodansha site, an official publisher that takes over already popular manga series that were so far mostly drives away people who were actually already translating it and instead making it available to less people.
Honestly, as a reader, I kinda have grown to dislike most official publishers

Just my 2cents. Rather than linking to a page to a chapter they should have just link it to mangashuesha.
No offense to the official website but theyre just looking greedy with this. They already gets views directly from MD users not to mention anyone who google searches the manga since they are the top searchee for me. And now they farming views to the site that doesnt even do sh!t.

Meh still using adblock and blocking viz in my MD.

Yes region locking sucks and would be great if it wasn't a thing. However, I fail to see how thats relevant to the goal increasing the visibility of free official releases. Even more so when getting around the region lock can be done with a free VPN.

There is no "taking over" or "driving people way". There is nothing stopping groups and individuals from continuing to translate titles that have links to official chapters. If they decide to stop that solely on them. Also in most cases its not like the publisher suddenly started working on/releasing a series, its just now its offered online instead of print/digital volumes.

Time to learn moon runes then, but wait, publishers for the Japanese market aren't really any better and are some times even worse.
