The "dead one" doesn't remember past life, how died and people remembering them had no memory if they died, she claimed to not remember things before but that could be because her alcohol problems so it wasn't obvious.

Kouichi visited the town one and a half year before returning, but he didn't remember it, because she died and that visit was due to her funeral. Since his father is very far away, the curse has no effect on him as stated in the story.

Reiko, as mentioned, was art teacher, it was her beloved skill.
Reiko was the teacher in art class, that was her original job, but due to her death it was disbanded in 2nd year but due to her return, re-established in 3rd.

We seen Kuichi grandfather mourning someone, presumably Reiko since she died not long ago, unlikely it was Kuichi mother as she died 15 years prior.

FINALLY, Rei the bird grandparents bought after Reiko death, probably not effected by the curse, gave away clues as it repeats words spoken several times such as "Poor Rei-chan, poor Ritsuko" and "Rei-chan, why, Rei-chan..." suggesting grandparents were grieving her daughters tragic death. Also, Reiko hated the bird for obvious reason, they in folklore see supernatural and are disliked naturally by them.

For a mystery story, that's rather not so hard to figure out. Sorry...

I basically dropped some tears reading this chapter. It's just so sad that Keichi need to kill his foster mother. But at some point he need to move on...
