Does she not have any guards watching over her?

Edit: Thinking about the chapter a bit more, it seems likely that there'll be an arc where FMC gets kidnapped (probably by that scientist at the end) and the MC has to go and rescue her.

Honestly, MC and FMC could have an interesting dynamic. A character being resentful because they were neglected as a child and didn't get to see one of their parents a lot because of it pairing with a naive character that doesn't know a lot about the world and only being limited to their interactions could make for some really good and natural conflict. I just hope this progresses at a good pace.

Not to sound so mean with only 2 chapters to start with, but what a boring dynamic that we’ve seen so many times before. Naive x Brooding only works for shoujo stories, and when Mr. Brooding isn’t justified. Even if they fall in love and get together and he seems happier, it won’t solve his daddy issues. Since this is a case of neglect not something nastier like s*xual abuse, he should talk it out with his father, or his grudges won’t be really solved. Love can’t solve long held grudges and issues with other relationships and people. This could be so much interesting as a non-romance psychological story following the son and father rekindling or walking away from there relationship.

i like to think of it as a purposely cheesy story, what with the whole “love can heal all wounds” schtick being so played out and flat out wrong that people usually see as a form of escapism to the point of the entire trope pretty much parodying itself. but that’s just me being optimistic on purpose and it probably is just going to be another story where it actually does take itself too seriously like the tom mcdonald of romcoms or smth.

I guess I’ve been reading too many cheesy romances recently to the point I’ve gotten apathetic to the plots, but I really like the premise of neglect and I really think a understanding between the two of them would be an amazing story, even though I know it will never go that route.
You're right that it might turn out to be super serious, which would make it so much worse than a super cheesy story.
And the super naive girl is such a bad and overused trope.

@audettey the super naive girl trope was alright for a little while and then the people got fed up. “okay she’s supposed to be top waifu because she’s super innocent and pure hearted and shit, but can you do something with it for once?” -someone, probably.
i get the whole appeal of it but it’s so shallow at this point that i’m surprised where in an internet-raised generation that’s disturbed enough to watch red room videos for fun, people actually didn’t tear this trope down like how the tumblr girls started making all of the anime characters look like the lite version of lizzo.

it seems more and more like they’re using the “she was super duper sheltered” as an excuse for all of these characters as well which just makes them even more of the same person just in a different art style. not even body, they all have the same fucking long and straight black/brown hair with curtains that match the window and white but not pale skin and a skinny body that’s built like a praying mantis.

overall though, yeah the trope pretty much is just cosmetics for different stories to be the same.

@Bladestone

it's basically like his father abandoned his own son to take care of this girl.
it's no wonder he feels like this towards her and his father.
