I won't pretend Demian is the most interesting character in the world, but I think he makes some degree of sense, and anyone whining about Aoi being "nerfed" is wholly missing the point. It's one of those you don't know what you don't know situations, except now he's good enough to see exactly what he doesn't know. Six months ago, Aoi may have gotten disheartened by being outclassed but he'd still look at this as an opportunity to improve. But now that he can watch the whole field, he's experiencing football that he never thought was physically possible in the first place, even after playing Japanese pros. Of course he's lost. This will be the basis for a new evolution, but it makes perfect sense if that evolution can't happen during the course of this match.
