my god these la masia kids really love to pretend that they're all pisspoor living in a war torn country. spain has the same gdp/capita as japan lol
Ehhhhh they are not saying they are poor or anything. U know how serious and cutthroat the football environment in Europe it, these kids are basically gambling on their future, they are either breaking out to become a professional football or become a kid who got pushed out with no proper education (although La masia DOES have educational program that they needed to take and iirc, the club and the academy actually put a serious weight onto education, Messi himself missed a few matches because the club didn't allow him to play due to him failing some classes I think) but yeah, they are gonna be severely left behind compared to other kids if they didn't make it to professional.

However dramatized it is in here, I can resonate with this. I believe had enough talent to be a professional football player, but ultimately, I didn't make it. I saw some of my teammates who had less talent than me become professionals.

The main difference was that I had other alternatives besides football, and I didn't focus 100% on it. Those colleagues had nothing else; football was their only shot at a better life, so they dedicated their lives to it.

bruh it's like 2-3 chapters bro, it ain't that long lmao. But yeah, back to the match now
the problem is with this whole Barca arc. MC has no development, all he does is standing there hyperventilating like a fucking idiot. We got backstories from several characters that we don't give a fuck about and (I'm 99% sure) we will never see again. WHY. THE. FUCK. should I care about them? I started reading because I was interested in Ashito's story, and in the last two chapters he got ONE PANEL!

not every chapter does ashito need to have development clearly koboyashi sees demian as such an important character that he needs to develop him to this point, this will al inturn help us understand the battle between barcelona (demian) and esperion (ashito) even more

comparing struggles is just not it man, its really iffy if its not done right, esp when you dramatized the narrative so much like this. Akutsu literally buried his only relative about a month before, hes not a part of the last page so he's probably up next(he has to because hes literally the only one with a backstory "rivaling" all this)

with this amount of backstory they might be important later on in the story. They might even play with Ashito in the future

...is this everyone's first sport Manga?

Like flashbacks are the most bog standard part of any long running sports manga. You have to humanize your opponents, so the matches actually mean something other than MC beats generic team#3476.

Also, it provides opportunities down the road for new story arcs, as you can use past opponents as a setup team for a newer tougher team.

This is basic sports material.

It is a good background story. Kinda prove better why Demian put high stake on his football career, why his sister sounding like overconfident woman, and why he keep spouting scriptures from Bible. They have come from long way.
Also kinda give us some peek on how football scout worked around the world.

What I've been thinking as well, haha. Like has no one read Haikyuu? That's like 70% flashbacks lol. (And it's kino).

Is more likely due to the weight this match have, that the rest of the tournament passes in flashes or smt like that, without Kuribayashi and Demian... Unless Ashito awaken's in some way
