Guess I was right several chapters ago, the knee couldn’t handle the hype :haa: Now, probably Fukuda or his little sister will stop him before he gets an ACL or a nasty injury like that, the match will end on a draw but they’ve proven that their football could beat the Barca, good enough.
Thanks for the translation

In all seriousness tho, he's just exhausted, both his legs are trembling. He's a teenager and has crossed the entire pitch multiple times for 83 minutes. He's done.

Ashito proved himself and his doubters; even made the cutthroat management of Barca see some positives in the way Japan nurture players above a certain age, Fukuda surely has to be paying attention to Ashito's condition and prevent a career ending injury like his own, time to sub him, a draw is more than enough.

Barca has been completely dominated mentally, they will see the draw as a loss, but to Esperion is very much a win.

also this is another parallel/call back to Fukuda’s breakthrough match(that he met both Kuri and Demian) in Spain, Aoi felt his knee in the 5th page or something, like Fukuda did. Adrenaline was high and Fukuda kept going until it tore him apart. And he’s been adamant about these boys taking care of their own body to avoid walking(not a pun) in the same path he did. Curious to see Koba’s choice here. Will Fukuda sub Aoi out immediately and they gonna lose? Or Aoi will do the “im fine occhan let me play” and crumble physically at the last second?

It's crazy how no one has seen the parallels to the slam dunk ending yet. I think the same thing is gonna happen here.

Author, DON'T U FUCKING DARE END THIS MANGA WITH ASHITO HAVING A FUCKING ACL, I SWEAR TO GOD.
I am a tad bit overreacting but HOLY FUCK ZOOMING ON HIS KNEE IS NOT A GOOD THING
Bro his legs are simply shaking from exhaustion. That's what happens when you run too much. Look at how the lines are drawn. It's not his knee that is the focus, it's his calves. Have you never done real cardio before?

I literally called this months ago. You can go back in the comments. I talk about how he's been sprinting at full speed too much. How he wasn't mentally overwhelmed, he was physically overwhelmed for probably an hour in-game now, while also trying to "figure out" how to deal with Barca.

He got to the mental answer, but he doesn't have the kind of physical monster stats that Akutsu and Kuribayashi have yet. He's only been playing seriously for a little over a year now. You're not supposed to have to run at full speed this much in a single football match, and the people that do train day in and day out to do it.

Ashito will be fine. The author isn't going to give him a lifelong injury here. The entire reason the author had them fight Barca in the first round, instead of later, is so that they could level up a lot and then lose.

I literally called the flow of this ENTIRE match months ago. The only thing I was wrong about was how long Damien would be on the field--I thought he'd show up later and they'd only have a couple minutes of surpassing him and then it'd be barely too late to catch up. Instead they had him show up really early so that Japan could actually catch up but then lose in the last few minutes.
