Page from chapter 2 where Fukuda mentions that half of players in teams should be academy promotions. Tonari messed up the line with the "young player" nonsense.

Fukuda: a team that doesn't raise it's next generation has no future. to put it more concretely, if half of the starting line up of the senior team isn't at least six or more academy graduates, i believe they aren't making use their academy.
Ashito: six out of eleven starters?! so if it isn't more than half, it's not good enough?!

He's not wrong. This is also happening in MLS (the american soccer/football league). We've been starting to see 16/17 year olds start playing in professional matches for the past few years now more and more.

Thanks for the chapter!! We can really see Aoi setting Kuribayashi as his inspiration/benchmark. I understand that they need to be moving people up but I'm also sad at the lowered interactions with Kuri, Yoshi, and the other 2 we didn't really see to much of.

I used to hear about this a lot, the age range to be scouted by a baseball team was 16, if you don't produce results by that age you might as well quit and go to college to study, like everyone else. It's good that Ashito is more conscious about the reality of the sport now, he must improve if he even wants the chance of being considered by a pro team.
