Maybe the coach wants to move Aoi to the center in the future, maybe. However, the fullback has the advantage of seeing almost the entire field without having to move his head too much, the central defender has to worry more about the goalkeeper behind him instead the full back is often turned towards the inside of the field so behind him he only has the lateral touch-line

Almost like Marcelo in his prime with CR7, a LB so good that could play as midfielder but in LB he's the best

This chapter is very cool btw.. Especially because in 2023, all playmaking started from at least DF. The number 10 role (AMF) has vanished slowly and the game evolved further to backline. Some even had GK as the playmaker, where every offensive passing pattern started.

This is what sealed the deal for me with this series. I enjoy quite a few sports series and oftentimes either the protag's team or a rival team will spotlight a playmaker position, but it's almost never the protag themself. I LOVE the playmaker character, so this is like wow a manga targeted at me specifically. GK's Tatsumi is too op to be a protag as a player, but it kind of feels like getting that. Their personalities are obvs very different but... if you understand why I like this, then it's not that weird a comparison.
